Report from Miles (verbatim): School is pretty nice. I mostly like everything, except the uniforms because I don't like it that I cannot pick out my own options which kinda sucks. My school is also nice because we can go out to the Oval and play soccer. The teachers are really nice. We get to do some fun activities in class. Learning Mandarin has been kind of easy. So far I know how to say hello, goodbye, and a few other words. This term we are having the Moon Festival, which is a Chinese festival, celebrating Chinese New Year and you have lots of laterns and eat moon cakes.
Report from Baxter (verbatim): The teachers are really nice, as well as the students. They want to hear about what life is like in America. Classes are awesome - I like all of the subjects which is amazing. In Science we are building a website right now which is really cool. The walk to school isn't very far so it doesn't take long to get there. Every day doesn't feel really long, and it's good. I get to see friends and learn. The uniform is OK; I don't really want to have one but I guess it's OK since the shirts aren't that bad. Learning Chinese is pretty hard but I think I'm getting the hang of it. I've learned that people say "mama" and "baba" are what people call their mom and dad. And the word zaijian (sigh-tien) means goodbye. We have a tracking system/game in class to earn points when you get words right in Chinese which has been a fun way to learn. The school buildings are big, like its own small campus which is super cool. The canteen (mini restaurant) which has a menu of stuff like pizza, chicken, breadsticks and chips (which is what they call french fries) - I get to go there every Friday to buy my lunch. So yeah, school is pretty cool.
