So we have COVID-19 testing on a specific schedule in hotel quarantine (HQ): Day 2, 7 and 12.  I was a little anxious about this process since none of us have had anything except the easy types of tests - spit or self-test nasal swab.  Fortunately, the nursing staff, armed with a rolling cart and covered in medical gear (practically Hazmat suits) stand in the hallway while we follow their instructions in the doorway of our room.  Recite name and date of birth, throat swab followed by deep nasal swab (brain poking the kids called it) for each side.  All folks did well, no tears just gripes about how it felt weird.  Major relief.

We are all still a bit jetlagged.  Baxter fell asleep last night before dinner but we woke him up because that boy loves the french fries here and I knew he would be mad to miss out!  We roused him from sleep, and he did eat some then crawled off to bed.  Perhaps he won't get up at midnight and attempt to stay up ALL DAY today. Sigh.

People have asked about exercise in quarantine.  The hotel offers a few Zoom workout sessions - I plan to try one of those today.  We ordered a stationary bike (super basic, it's definitely NOT a Peloton) that has a seat that fits all of us, even Miles.  The bike has been a great way to get moving when we are trapped indoors!  We also brought a travel yoga mat so we've been doing yoga classes on YouTube.  I also have resistance bands.  So between Zoom workout, YouTube, and our own routines, we've been able to get workout time daily.  This morning I did a high intensity interval (HIIT) workout led by a trainer for those in this hotel only, so that was a nice small crew with personalized attention.

We remain attentive to the outbreaks happening in Australia right now.  Sydney is currently in lockdown, and South Australia just announced they opted NOT to lockdown.  We are definitely having flashbacks to March 2020 with the daily briefings.  We, like a lot of the country, are eager to get these outbreaks under control!
