Quarantine is pretty boring.  Especially when you wake up at 4 am, it is a LONG day.  But we have tried to engage in some sanity saving activities.  We have asked the boys to identify activities they want to do once we are released and have freedom of movement again.  We have been somewhat successful in getting them to learn a bit about SA and come up with unique activities, but they also are kids who just want to go outside and run around to play.  So Miles has found a trampoline park we aim to visit next week, and Baxter definitely on board with that idea.

We are looking at itineraries to visit Kangaroo Island to check out the wildlife and natural park areas, but we may wait until the weather warms up a bit (it's winter here, lows in the 40s, highs in the 50s).  Miles and I watched a nature program yesterday and added a new location to our wish list here in Australia after learning about the Cradle Mountains in Tasmania. Other locations on that list include Ulhuru, the Great Barrier Reef, Sydney, and New Zealand.

Jeremy has started his iPad sketches again, and produced a beautiful image of a Kingfisher.  My spare time is primarily spent reading on my kindle and planning for travel.  Both boys have been reading, but there's a lot of screen time.  We have taught Miles the basics of how to play euchre, but he needs a bit more practice in this subtlety of that card game!  [Also in provided the link to the game I learned that it is popular in Australia too, so knowing how to play might be beneficial for more than quarantine boredom and future family gatherings!)  For those who know the game, it can be a steep learning curve for a kid to understand the scoring, remember which suit is trump, how to make good risks/decisions for points, and so on.  And for those who know how competitive the Bruskotter family is about cards, you can guess that Jeremy was NOT happy having Miles as his partner when I got a loner hand in the first round; Baxter and I soundly beat them and they did not opt to play a second game.

Sydney just extended their city lockdown for another week. As we have mentioned, we won't get to visit the city as we have to go directly to the airport in order to maintain the quarantine.  We did book our flights to Adelaide for Sunday morning, so we hope the lockdown won't impact our flights as the airlines have been changing and canceling flights based on the travel restrictions.  As you can imagine, we are quite eager for this phase of the travel to conclude and we can go out and experience Australia for ourselves rather than via YouTube videos!
