Our hotel has had activities this week around Christmas in July, encouraging quarantiners to share social media posts on the Elf on a Shelf theme using materials in their room, a trivia night, etc.  Even though I have never had an Elf on a Shelf, I decided to participate because I cannot resist a contest, and I have a lot of time on my hands.

This afternoon, gifts were delivered to our door!  There were two wrapped gifts labeled with a cute note personally addressed to Baxter and Miles, plus mulled wine and chocolates for the adults.  The gifts were a super sweet gesture, even if they skewed a bit young for the kids.

Miles was, of course, thrilled to have novel items!  Baxter was pacified by me giving him my chocolates.  Meanwhile, the hotel social director called to let us know we *won* the social media contest for my Elf on a Shelf photo, and we would have a seafood platter delivered.  (Please see my earlier post on Day 5 for more on why we didn't want the seafood platter!)  I talked them into sending a different prize, and the kids were thrilled with their hot chocolates (with at least half of the cup made of whipped cream!) and we cheered on the bottle of sparkling wine but groaned at more snacks.
