[Title in reference to the classic viral video, 'David after dentist.' We make reference to this one a lot in our family culture, including 'will it be like this FOREVER?']
It's starting to feel like this is our actual real life here now. School has started, we have gotten our bearings in the neighborhood, have found good eateries and spots to view the sunset, and work is getting underway. Even if the journey was long to get here and it's still rainy winter weather, I'm still thrilled to be living a few miles from the ocean, seeing kangaroos and wild parrots like it's no big deal.
One thing I have learned over the many relocations I've made in my life (living in 5 different US states) is that I take the job of getting to know my new setting as a serious part-time job! As a result, I've made new running friends, researched *must see* things in my new city, examined day trips in the surrounding areas. Jeremy found this amazing playground 30 minutes drive from home - the boys totally loved racing and swinging around! This place is MASSIVE and we didn't get to explore all of it!
Today (Monday) is our first full week of school/work since lockdown was lifted. Baxter is VERY ready to walk them to school without us (because we are super embarrassing because we exist). Jeremy and I both have work targets for this week - he's meeting with a potential collaborator at Flinders Uni and I'm getting things ready to launch our research study since we have approval from the Flinders Ethics board! Miles will start a recreational futsol league on Wednesday, and we're still hunting for some kind of extracurricular activity for Baxter; he's very resistant as he's content to continue to videogame his time away!
